Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire fighter in the Mk.VIII version, in 1:72 scale from Eduard. The model is based on a modern Eduard mold with finely engraved panel lines and riveting and with the fabric covering of the control surfaces suggested. The contents of the box differ according to the edition — higher editions usually add color photo-etched parts and painting masks, while the basic Weekend is normally a plastic kit with a decal sheet. The particular box decides.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was a thoroughly reworked version intended mainly for overseas and tropical theaters (the Mediterranean, Burma, the Pacific). Compared with the Mk.IX it had a strengthened airframe and, as standard, a retractable tail wheel, that is, relocated and faired tail wheel gear instead of a fixed wheel. It was powered by a two-stage supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine. Many pilots considered the Mk.VIII one of the best sorted versions of the Spitfire, even though it was built in smaller numbers than the widespread Mk.IX.
Clean the parts up and glue them with thin cement for plastic run into the seams. Before spraying we recommend a primer and an airbrush with thinned paints in several thin coats. A painting mask makes the canopy frames easier. Tropical camouflage comes alive with subtle shading of the base coat and a discreet wash in the panel lines. Watch the correct seating of the radiators under the wings.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
