An injection-molded plastic kit of the South Korean supersonic trainer in 1:72 scale from Academy. It captures the elegant T-50 Golden Eagle with its tandem cockpit and side air intakes. The kit is arranged as a simpler, quickly built model with parts in different colors that can even be joined without glue; for the best result we nevertheless recommend classic gluing and painting. The box contains a clear cockpit canopy and a stand for displaying the aircraft effectively in flight attitude.
The KAI T-50 Golden Eagle is the first South Korean supersonic aircraft, developed in cooperation with an American partner. It serves as an advanced trainer for the training of jet pilots and, in armed versions, as a light combat and attack aircraft as well. It stands out for modern aerodynamics and for handling similar to that of combat machines, so it eases the transition of pilots to full fighters. Besides the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) it is operated by a number of other countries.
Even on a simpler kit it pays to clean the parts up before joining them and to test them dry. The parts in different colors make it easier to find your way, but the model still gains most from being painted: use a primer, an airbrush and thin coats of paint. Mask the clear cockpit canopy before painting. Striking modern camouflage schemes and markings come to life with fine transitions, washes into the engraved lines and restrained weathering; apply the decals over a smooth gloss surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
