A plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the production of the UM brand. The subject is an American prototype of a self-propelled gun, which in American nomenclature is designated Gun Motor Carriage, that is, a carriage for a gun. The T35 stood at the beginning of the development line from which one of the most widespread American tank destroyers of the Second World War came.
American doctrine counted on separate units of tank destroyers: fast, well armed vehicles with an open turret, which sacrificed armor protection in favor of mobility and firepower. The T35 arose on the proven chassis of a medium tank, on which an open turret with an anti-tank gun was seated. The trials showed the ways to improvement, above all in the shaping of the hull, and the following step of the development already led directly to the production machine. The prototypes were built in only a few pieces, so it is an item that stands in collections for a stage of development, not for combat use.
Finish the running gear before you close the hull and fit the fenders. On this kind of vehicle the open turret is the most interesting part for a modeler: the interior is visible, so it is worth devoting time to painting and shading it before you seat the turret. Cut small parts away with a scalpel and clean them with a file. Spray the base shade with an airbrush in thin layers and leave the recesses darker. Keep the weathering in scale: a dark wash into the detail, a careful dry brush on the edges and pigments on the running gear. Prototype machines tended to be without combat wear, so heavy weathering does not suit the subject very well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
