A plastic figure kit in 1:9 scale from the manufacturer Revell, licensed to the world of the series The Mandalorian. The subject is the central character of the series, a bounty hunter in metal armor. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The character is from film, not from history, so fidelity is measured against the look in the series: all-metal armor with a strongly shaped helmet, a cloak, a belt with equipment and a hand firearm. It is exactly the combination of shiny metal, matte fabric and leather that makes this figure a rewarding object for practicing contrasts of materials, because in 1:9 scale everything is large enough for the differences to show.
Fill and sand the seams left by the division of the parts, because every unevenness is visible on smooth armor. Apply a primer, ideally a dark one under the metal surfaces. Create the metallic look with metallic paint applied over a smooth, perfectly even base; the pigment of metallic paints settles at the bottom, so stir the paint thoroughly and spray it only at a later stage, because it is hard to overspray and to mask. The cloak and the fabric parts, by contrast, should be left matte and given depth with a wash and a dry brush. Handle the chipping on the edges of the armor sparingly, ideally by gentle stippling with a sponge. At the end unify the surface with varnish according to the material, matte on the fabric and semi-gloss in spots on the metal.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
