An injection-molded plastic kit of the armored variant of the HMMWV off-road vehicle in 1:72 scale from T-Model. In this version the vehicle is completed by the remotely operated M153 CROWS II weapon station on the roof, which gives it an unmistakable silhouette. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The designation M1114 belongs to the armored version of the widely used HMMWV wheeled vehicle: it has a strengthened body, heavier suspension, a modified driveline and armored windows, which set it apart from the light unarmored variants. The abbreviation CROWS marks a remotely operated weapon station: the operator works it from inside the vehicle through a day and thermal camera and does not have to lean out. The second generation of the station is used on a number of wheeled and tracked vehicles and on a model it is the main feature that tells it apart from the older versions with an open ring mount.
In 1:72 scale the parts of the weapon station, the mirrors and the aerials are very small: cut them off with a new, genuinely sharp blade and only just before gluing, or they will scatter across the table. Paint the inside of the vehicle and the frames of the armored windows before you close the body up. Spray the base tone with an airbrush in one coat and add the three-dimensional look afterwards with a dry brush on the edges and a dark wash into the pressings and joints. A wheeled vehicle is recognized by its underside: apply dust and mud from the bottom upwards and build them up on the fenders. Aerials made from thin wire or bristle will replace the thick plastic parts and do the model a great deal of good.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
