The forward part of the fuselage with the antenna fairing is one of the first places the viewer's eye wanders to. It is exactly this area that the accessory concentrates on and offers in a finer rendition than an injection mold usually manages. The scope of the package is not stated here.
The special UP-3D version comes from the proven Lockheed P-3 Orion patrol aircraft. That machine was designed for flights of many hours over the sea, where the crew works above all with sensors. The electronic equipment therefore makes up a substantial part of the value of the machine and shows in its external appearance too, whether in the faired antenna in the forward part or in the bulges distributed over the airframe. Modelers deal with this layer of detail through accessories, because in a small scale it tends to be simplified.
The antenna fairing calls for a smooth and continuous transition into the fuselage, so after gluing expect filling and gradual sanding through several grits. Keep checking the shape against the light, because unevenness shows to the eye sooner than to the finger. Spray the inside of the space in advance. Radar fairings tend to be set apart in shade from the surrounding finish, so mask the transition first and spray in thin coats so that no step is formed.
