A set of wing flaps for a UP-3D Orion model in 1:72 scale. It replaces the simplified trailing edge of the kit and lets the flaps be worked up as separate surfaces.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set of wing flaps for building an Orion model in 1:72 scale. A kit tends to have the trailing edge in one piece with the wing, so the flap is only hinted at on the model by a groove. The replacement parts separate it out and turn it into a surface of its own with real thickness and depth.
The P-3 Orion is a four-engine maritime patrol aircraft with a low wing, derived from an airliner. The letter U at the start of the UP-3D designation marks this example as reworked for auxiliary tasks rather than patrol service. A model of a large aircraft is often built with the wing flaps extended, because that is what shows how broken up the lifting surface really is.
Cutting the flap out of the kit wing is an irreversible step, so first work out from the instructions and from photographs of the real subject where the edge actually runs and in what position you want to show the flap. The set itself does not decide whether the aircraft stands with the flaps extended or retracted.
Make the cut in the wing with some margin and work up to the final edge by sanding. Cut the excess material on the parts away with a sharp blade a little way from the shape and sand off the rest. Dry-fit them and only then glue, because once the glue has set you will not correct the angle of the flap.
The package holds the parts stated. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
