This is separate external ordnance without an aircraft. The name offers it as a universal accessory to any kit in 1:72 scale and at the same time states the figure of eight pieces.

What this weight class represented

A bomb of five hundred pounds formed the backbone of American aerial ordnance from the Second World War onward. It was carried by fighter bombers and by medium bombers, because the ratio of weight to effect allowed more pieces to be taken at once. That is exactly why period photographs usually show an even number of identical bodies under the wings and a modeler needs more than one pair.

Working with the set

Ordnance conceived as universal assumes that the builder will fine-tune the mounting himself. It pays to try dry how the body seats on the pylon and, if need be, to drill a shallow recess for the pin. It is easier to spray away from the model, mounted on a stick, and only the finished pieces are glued to the wing. It is a good idea to check the parallelism of the two sides by looking from the nose, because a bomb hung crooked is impossible to miss on a finished build. The remaining pieces are worth storing in a box with a lid; small ordnance is lost in a workshop faster than anything else.
