A figure set in 1:72 scale from the maker Red Box. According to the name it depicts the infantry of the United States Army in the clothing of 1900, that is from the time of the Boxer Uprising. It is not a model of equipment but figures for dioramas and for the gaming table.
This is line infantry of the land army, that is a unit intended for advance and combat on land, unlike the landing parties of the Marines from the same line. The clothing matches the field uniform of the turn of the century: a tunic and trousers, canvas equipment with pouches and a belt, and a soft field head covering. The armament consists of a repeating rifle with a bayonet. In a scene the set serves as the basic foot element around which the other units are built.
They are painted with a brush. First wash the figures in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry out properly, and only then apply a primer with good adhesion, and on soft plastic optionally a flexible one. Work from the large area of the uniform toward the small items of equipment, otherwise you will lose your way at this scale. A dark wash will bring out the folds of the cloth and the gaps in the equipment, and careful drybrushing will pull out the edges and the faces. Set the straps and the stock apart in brown tones, and suggest the metal parts with a dark metal without a sheen. Even the bases of the figures out with the color of the diorama base so that the edges are not conspicuous.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
