The Armory VK 72.01 (K) (1:72) plastic kit: the German heavy tank prototype of the Löwe project of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank prototype VK 72.01 (K) in 1:72 scale from Armory. The box is complemented by photo-etched parts and a metal barrel. The model captures the projected shape of the vehicle, whose subject is a paper design for a heavy tank, so it is a what-if machine that never reached the stage of a working prototype.
The VK 72.01 (K) is linked to the Löwe heavy tank project, meaning Lion, by the Krupp company, and the letter K in the designation refers to that designer. The design envisaged a vehicle weighing around 90 tons with a powerful gun, but the project was abandoned in favor of the even heavier Maus and stayed on paper. The model therefore represents an interesting design dead end of the German heavy tank program rather than a machine that was really deployed.
In the small scale take care to clean up the parts neatly and to glue the photo-etch gently with cyanoacrylate; the metal barrel gives the front of the model some strength. Assemble the running gear and the link-and-length tracks before painting. A primer, an airbrush and one of the late war German camouflage schemes work well. Highlight the edges with drybrushing, put a wash in the seams and weather the suspension with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
