A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks, Peewit 1:72 Vultee BT-13 Valiant, for the long cockpit glazing of the trainer aircraft. An accessory for the build, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for a model of the American Vultee BT-13 Valiant trainer aircraft in 1:72 scale. The set covers the cockpit glass during spraying, so the framing of the canopy comes out sharp and clean. It is not a kit but an accessory that makes finishing the model easier.
The masks are cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type tape. The material adapts to the slight curve of the canopy, as a rule leaves no glue once taken off and does not lift the base coat. The individual pieces are peeled off the backing with tweezers and stuck onto degreased, dry plastic.
The Valiant is a two-seat trainer with a long, densely framed canopy for instructor and pupil alike. In 1:72 scale such glazing has a great many thin bars, which are hard to draw out by hand and the result tends to be irregular. With masks the frames are sprayed all at once and in a shade that matches the rest of the airframe exactly, typically a striking trainer yellow or natural metal.
First cover the glass, spray the interior shade and only after that the external shade, so that the frames look right from the inside too. Seal the edges of the masks with a thin coat of clear varnish. With markedly saturated shades, give two or three light coats rather than one heavy one, which lowers the risk of the paint forming a ridge at the edge of the mask.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
