The add-on set 1:72 WWII USAAF oxygen cylinder A-6 (3D-Printed) from Eduard brings A-6 type oxygen cylinders for the interiors of US aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
Small parts decide whether the inside of a model reads as a machine or as an empty shell. This set adds the oxygen cylinders designated A-6 that were used in US aircraft during the Second World War. They were made by printing in layers and according to the manufacturer the package includes decals for them. They have nothing to do with the airframe; this is purely equipment.
An oxygen cylinder is a shape of revolution, and in a split mold it never comes out without a seam running along its whole length. Injection-molded parts therefore need lengthy sanding and polishing, after which the surrounding surface detail disappears anyway. A printed cylinder has no parting line at all and the fine fittings on it stay exactly as the designer drew them. On an object this small the difference shows even under a magnifier.
Separate the cylinders from the carrier frame under magnification and smooth the cut face with a very fine file. Set them off in color from the surrounding interior, otherwise they will vanish in a gray cockpit; a richer tone with polished metal on the fittings works well. Finally it pays to suggest a little soot with a dark pigment along the lower edge. Glue the cylinders in place only after the surrounding surfaces have been sprayed, so that the paint goes on evenly and without shadows.
The box holds only the printed cylinders and the decals; nothing else is added.
