About product

Peewit 1:72 Yakovlev Yak-3 painting mask

A set of self-adhesive masking templates of kabuki tape from the Czech maker Peewit for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-3 fighter of the Second World War period in 1:72 scale. The masks follow the canopy frames exactly and make painting them cleanly easier; the set usually also includes circular masks for the wheels. It is not a model or a decal but an aid for precise masking.

Use

  • Lift the mask with tweezers and lay it on the matching glazing frame according to the diagram.
  • Press the edges down firmly so that paint cannot creep under the tape.
  • Spray the interior color and the outer finish and lift the masks off once dry.
  • Use the circular masks to cover the tires while painting the hubs.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of Second World War fighters in 1:72 scale.
  • Modelers who want sharp canopy frames without masking by hand.

The masks are for single use. Degrease the glazing and remove dust before applying them.

FAQ

Fine yellow kabuki tape, which follows the curvature of the canopy well, holds its shape and leaves no adhesive when lifted off.

Sets of these masks usually also contain circular templates for covering the tires while painting the hubs.

No, they are meant to be laid on once; they lose their tack after being lifted off.
