Wallonien in the name refers to Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium, from which the unit drew its men. Its beginnings go back to a volunteer unit originally assigned to the army, which was later transferred under the Waffen-SS and in stages raised to a division with the sequence number 28. Its combat commitment falls on the Eastern Front, among other things in the withdrawal fighting in Ukraine and later in the defense in the north of Germany. The designation Volunteer Grenadier Division in the name describes a volunteer infantry unit.
A number of modelers do not combine plaques with terrain but fit them to a polished or stained wooden board under the diorama, where it acts like a museum plaque. The contrast of the wood and the relief is legible even from a distance. If you are gluing the plaque to wood, sand the area first with fine paper and rid it of dust, otherwise the glue will draw into the pores and the joint will be weak. On varnished wood an epoxy resin holds most reliably.
