A photo album, not a kit. A volume of the Foto Album series of the Trojca publishing house, which builds on period photographs with short captions. The designation KW-1 and KW-2 is the German period spelling of the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks, named after Kliment Voroshilov; the machines appear under that spelling in German documents and in shots of captured vehicles.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank that gave the German army an unpleasant surprise in 1941: its armor resisted most of the anti-tank guns of the day and only heavy weapons could get through it. The KV-2 was its variant with a tall slab-sided turret and a 152 mm howitzer, meant for use against fortifications. Both machines were slow, unreliable and demanding to operate, and the Germans captured them in large numbers and went on photographing them, so many pictures of captured KVs have survived. For a modeler that is a happy coincidence: period photographs cover even machines in a wrecked and abandoned state.
For modelers of Soviet vehicles in 1:35 scale, for builders of dioramas from the first year of the war on the Eastern Front and for collectors of the Trojca series. The number of pages and the language are not stated here; the details are given in the imprint of the book. A photo album is a supplement to technical monographs, not a replacement for them.
