The bust Tenente degli Alpini 1915/18 in 1:10 scale captures an officer of the Italian mountain troops of the First World War as a resin casting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin bust of a lieutenant of the Alpini of the years 1915 to 1918. The format chosen gives the face and the equipment so much room that it is worth working on the shades of the skin, the texture of the cloth and the metal badges separately. The manufacturer places it among the more demanding items intended for experienced painters.
The Italian mountain troops were formed as early as 1872 and are the oldest corps of their kind in the world. Their mark of recognition was a felt hat with a feather tucked in at the side, an eagle feather for officers. In the Great War they went through the hardest the European front had to offer: the fighting on the Isonzo, the attacks on the Ortigara, the defense of the Monte Grappa massif and the so-called White War in the glaciers of the Adamello, where firing went on at heights above three thousand meters and an avalanche killed more reliably than artillery. The gray-green uniform introduced in 1909 completed the picture of a soldier who had above all to be a mountaineer.
The casting is rinsed before work and given a primer, otherwise the finish holds badly on smooth resin. A face in a large format will take oils and the slow blending of transitions, and the eyes come only once the skin is finished. The cloth stands out after a glaze and a gentle pass with a dry brush, and the metal fittings are polished with graphite or pigment.
The bust is supplied unassembled and unpainted, so prepare the paints of your own choosing.
