A kit of the American carrier fighter aircraft Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:144 scale. A model from the brand Revell.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat was a carrier fighter aircraft of the US Navy which from the middle of the 1970s formed the main defense of the aircraft carriers. A crew of two sits in it, a pilot and a weapon systems officer, and the machine is driven by two turbofan engines. What shows most is the variable-geometry wing: for takeoff and landing the wings are spread for lift, and in fast flight they fold back toward the fuselage. Combined with a powerful radar and long-range guided missiles, the Tomcat was able to watch the space around the task force at a distance no one else could reach at the time.
A model in this scale takes up little room on a shelf and can be obtained even where there is no space for a large piece. The build is faster than in the larger scales, and machines of the same class side by side make a collection easy to take in. The extent of the package, the number of parts, the choice of markings and whether the wings can be built in both positions are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Decide in advance which position the wings will be in, because this choice has an effect on the painting and on the decals. The joints of the fuselage and of the leading sections give themselves away easily in a small scale, so fill them and sand them over with fine paper. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. If you are going to apply decals, prepare a smooth gloss base for them, otherwise a matte rim will be left under them.
For collectors of jet aircraft and for modelers who build fast and small. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
