The KFK (Kriegsfischkutter) was a small German war cutter built to a proven fishing boat design. The simple wooden hull could be built even in smaller yards, so a great many of these craft came into being during the Second World War. They served on coastal patrol, on escort duty, on minesweeping and on the auxiliary tasks for which larger warships were lacking. It is precisely their versatility and their plain working appearance that make them a rewarding subject for modelers looking for something other than large warships.

Glue the halves of the hull carefully and fill and sand the seam on the keel and at the bow, because on a smooth side it is otherwise easy to see. Paint the deck and the inside of the superstructure before you fit the superstructure in place; once it is glued, a brush will hardly reach them. Mark the line between the underwater and the above-water part of the hull with masking tape and spray thin coats so that the edge stays sharp. The wooden surfaces of the deck can be brought to life by drawing a darker glaze over the base shade and picking out the planks once it is dry. Fit the small equipment and the mast right at the end, when you no longer have to pick the model up.
