Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Tupolev Tu-144 supersonic airliner in 1:144 scale from ICM. It is a large model of a slender fuselage with a delta wing and finely engraved panel lines. Even in the small 1:144 scale the finished model is a substantial piece for the display case at over 45 cm long, while remaining easier to store than the larger scales.
The Tupolev Tu-144 was a Soviet supersonic airliner and the first of its kind to fly at all. Like Concorde it had a delta wing and could fly at more than twice the speed of sound. Its identifying features were the retractable foreplanes, which swung out at low speeds, and the drooping nose that improved the view from the flight deck. It spent only a short time in scheduled service and remains a fascinating chapter of supersonic travel.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Take care to clean the fuselage joints up smoothly; on an airliner a clean surface is the key. Lay down a primer before the color coats and apply the paint with an airbrush; a smooth, polished base pays off for natural metal finish areas and a white airline livery. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
