This is a standalone figure in the large 1:16 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM. It is supplied as an injection-molded plastic kit, that is, unassembled and unpainted. The assembled figure reaches roughly eleven centimeters, which is a format in which the details of the face, the folds of the cloth and the small accessories of the uniform already stand out. The figure belongs to the line that ICM devotes to ceremonial and representative uniforms, and it thus takes its place alongside the guards and honor units of other countries. The specific contents of the sprues, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are found in the instructions enclosed in the box.
Representative units carry out honor and ceremonial duties: guards at memorials, the welcoming of state visits, military parades and acts of remembrance. Their uniform differs from field equipment in cut, in coloring and in accessories, and it draws on the historical patterns of the given army. With Polish ceremonial units the four-cornered cap is characteristic. That is precisely why these figures are a rewarding subject for figure painters: they combine richly colored wool cloth, glossy leather equipment and metal badges.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin glue for polystyrene. The most work is given by covering the mold seams, which on figures run along the arms and the legs. Sand them with fine paper and polish the area, otherwise every scratch shows up after the primer is sprayed. Apply the primer in a thin coat so that it does not flood the relief. Build the flesh by layering from the darkest tone toward the light areas, leave the cloth of the uniform matte and reserve the sheen only for the leather and the metal accessories. Oil paints suit soft transitions; for sharp edges and badges a small brush and acrylic.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
