A plastic kit of the British sports car Jaguar E-Type in the closed coupe body version, 1:24 scale, made by Revell. It is a classic injection-molded kit for gluing and painting, not a finished collector's model. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the choice of decals are given in the instructions supplied.
The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car introduced in the early 1960s, and it is still among the most often cited automotive shapes of all. Characteristic are the very long hood with a tilting front section, the low silhouette and the oval radiator opening. Under the hood worked an inline six-cylinder engine with an overhead camshaft, and the body was built on a unitary structure completed at the front by a tubular frame carrying the engine and the suspension. The car had a very advanced chassis for its day, with independent rear suspension and disc brakes. It was built in open roadster and closed coupe versions, and this kit captures the latter.
The body of the E-Type is one large smooth area, so it will call for the most work: sand the parting seams carefully and polish the surface, as every unevenness will show under gloss varnish. Apply the paint in thin coats over a primer and let it mature well, and only then polish it. Mask the glazing and glue the chrome parts on only once the paintwork is finished. Paint and weather the chassis, exhaust and interior before you seat the body. Dry-fit the tilting front section of the hood to see whether it fits before you fix it. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and fix them with a final varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
