The set is an injection-molded plastic kit of a model of the Volkswagen Transporter T1, the cult microbus with a split windshield. The large 1:24 scale allows rich treatment of the body as well as the interior and is rewarding for detailed painting and finishing. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The first-generation Volkswagen Type 2, known as the T1 or Bulli, was built from the early 1950s and became an icon of postwar mobility and of the later culture of free travel. Its characteristic features are the rounded body, the air-cooled engine at the rear and, on early versions, the split windshield. It is precisely the two-tone finishes of these vehicles that are among their best-known traits.
Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and sand and fill the body joints carefully. For a clean two-tone combination, masking and spraying with an airbrush pay off, with a gloss clear coat at the end under the decals and to bring out the chrome trim. Glue the glazing with a non-fogging super glue or with a cement for canopies.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
