A plastic kit of the double-deck giant airliner in 1:288 scale. This scale is a logical choice for airliners: the model stays reasonably sized even for an aircraft with a span of over seventy meters. A small scale brings with it a lower number of parts, a simpler build and also the fact that details such as the cockpit areas, the transitions of fairings and the steps are suggested by engraving or handled by a decal rather than by separate parts. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the choice of color schemes are given in the instructions and on the box.
The Airbus A380 is a four-engine widebody with passengers on two decks along the whole length of the fuselage, the only layout of its kind in scheduled service. It first flew in 2005, entered airline service in 2007 and in the usual three-class layout carries over five hundred passengers. Because demand for very large aircraft changed, production ended in the early 2020s, but operators still put it on their busiest long-haul routes. For a modeler it is an interesting subject precisely for its proportions: a massive fuselage, a short and tall fin and an exceptionally large wing area.
On an airliner in white paint it is the cleanliness of the surface that decides. Fill the fuselage seams and sand them with fine abrasive paper, because light paint brings out every unevenness. Spray the color in thin coats over a base, prepare a gloss surface for the decals and even the finished model out with a satin or matte coat depending on how glossy you want the surface. Glue the small landing gear parts on at the end and leave the windows to the decals, if they are part of the package, rather than laboriously painting them with a brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
