The subject is the well-known Jeep utility car modified and fitted with armament for commando and raiding duties. The set captures the open structure of the car, the engine, the chassis and the equipment, and it usually comes with a crew figure as well. The model suits a display on its own as much as it does the dynamic core of a diorama.
The American light utility Jeep became a symbol of Allied mobility in the Second World War. In the Commando Car form it was a heavily armed version meant for fast raids, clearing positions and supporting infantry. The cars carried an increased fuel supply for a longer range and mounts for machine guns, which turned the small Jeep into a nimble firing platform for bold sorties.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the fine joints where needed. Paint the engine, the chassis and the interior of the car before you put the whole thing together. Lay down a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats; the typical Olive Drab takes well to details brought out with a wash and to dust or mud effects in pigments. Paint the figure and the armament separately for the greatest effect.
