About product

L1500S LF 8 1:35 (ICM)

This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German L1500S light fire truck in the LF 8 version in 1:35 scale. The model is built from individual plastic parts and includes a clear sprue for the glazing and decals. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

The L1500S chassis with a 1.5 ton payload was designed by Daimler-Benz at the start of the 1940s. A number of these vehicles received a closed body for carrying a fire crew and equipment, including ladders and hoses. From 1943 these light fire trucks were listed under the designation LF 8. They served with German fire units and many of them survived into the postwar years.

Building and painting tips

Paint the cab and the body before you close them up. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the joints. Spray the characteristic red or gray fire service color with an airbrush, and bring the small equipment and tools to life with wood and metal shades. Create the weathering with washes and a dry brush.

Who the model is for

  • anyone interested in German rear-area and rescue vehicles of the Second World War
  • builders of dioramas on a fire service theme
  • modelers who enjoy utility vehicles
  • collectors working in 1:35 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
