The BRDM-1 (also known as the BTR-40P) was an amphibious armored reconnaissance vehicle of the Soviet Union. It entered service in 1957 and was built until 1966; around ten thousand were made in all. In water it moved by water jet, and on soft ground it used retractable auxiliary belly wheels. It served mainly for reconnaissance and patrolling and was the basis for a number of derived variants.
Assemble and paint the chassis with its leaf springs and belly wheels before closing the hull. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Soviet equipment carried a uniform green finish: after the primer and the paint, bring out the detail with a wash and add dust and mud effects with pigments on the lower areas and the wheels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
