An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet eight-wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier BTR-60PB in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the characteristic enclosed PB version with a small rotating turret, a monocoque boat-shaped hull and eight wheels. It is a rewarding basis for a military diorama and for a display build on its own.
The BTR-60 was a Soviet eight-wheeled (8x8) amphibious armored personnel carrier introduced at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s as the first of the family of eight-wheeled BTRs. The BTR-60PB version is the most widespread enclosed variant: it received a fully covered fighting compartment and a small rotating turret with a heavy machine gun complemented by a coaxial machine gun. The vehicle is powered by two gasoline engines and moves in water by a water jet. The BTR-60PB served in the armies of the Warsaw Pact and of a number of other states and became one of the most typical wheeled armored vehicles of the Cold War.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin liquid cement for plastic. Assemble and clean up the running gear, the axles and the wheels before the hull is closed, while they are easy to reach; make sure all eight wheels are aligned correctly, so that the model stands straight. Apply a primer before painting and spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats. You will create the patina with a panel wash into the recesses, a drybrush on the edges and pigments for dust and dried mud around the wheels and the wheel arches.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
