The Sd. Kfz. 250 is a light halftrack armored car with an open body, recognizable at first glance by the combination of front wheels and a short tracked run. It is exactly the open body that makes the model a rewarding but demanding piece: a viewer sees into it, so every omitted detail shows. The Neu designation in the name belongs to the later, simplified form of the body.
This photo-etched accessory set in 1:35 scale is made for the kit from Dragon and forms the second part of a pair; the first is available separately. The scope of the parts and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so read them before you remove anything original from the kit.
Thin parts are sliced from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not broken out. Make the bend over a straight edge in one pull; a bending tool makes the work much easier. Sand the burrs left after separating. They are glued with super glue applied in minute drops with a pin or a piece of wire, as cement for polystyrene does not work here.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, then apply a thin primer so that the fine shapes stay legible. On an open vehicle it pays to work from the back forward and to paint the inside before you fit the elements on the sides. Leave the soiling as the last coat, as it ties the small parts optically to the rest of the model.
