This plastic figure set from ICM in 1:35 scale gives a factual rendering of members of Soviet special troops from the period of the Soviet-Afghan War. The box contains figures in period uniforms and gear, complemented by a heavy machine gun of 12.7 mm caliber on a mount. The set does not contain a vehicle model.
The figures show soldiers deployed in the mountain and desert setting of the Soviet-Afghan War of 1979 to 1988. The uniforms and gear match the practice of the time; the heavy machine gun rounds out the typical fire support of the infantry.
Separate the small parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Paint the figures and the machine gun separately over a primer base; layering and light shading work well for the uniforms. The set comes into its own in a diorama with period vehicles of the same scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the vehicle model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
