The stowage boxes of the eight-wheeled Sd. Kfz. 234/1 and 234/2 in 1:35 can, thanks to this metal set, be built as thin-walled boxes with lids that open.

The boxes on the fenders of the German 234 family of armored cars look on a plastic molding like solid blocks with suggested hinges. This brass set from the Royal Model brand turns them into thin-walled boxes with real lids, hinges and buckles. It is interesting above all because the inside stays accessible and can be filled with stowage as you see fit.
The crew of a reconnaissance vehicle carried far more with them than would fit inside: tools, spare parts, camouflage nets, personal bags and provisions. External boxes therefore belonged to the equipment from the start, and units routinely added to them or moved them around. Photographs from the front show vehicles encased in boxes of their own and captured ones alike, which is a rewarding subject for a modeler, as two identical vehicles practically did not exist in the field. It is precisely the small items on the fenders that turn a model into a particular machine with a story of its own rather than an anonymous piece of equipment from the factory.
The walls are bent to a right angle over a sharp edge and the corners are reinforced with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue; the lid is better glued on only after the inside is painted. A filled box calls for a little improvisation, as a rolled tarpaulin from kitchen foil or a rope from copper wire looks convincing.
In the box there is photo-etch only, and the modeler adds the plastic, the putties and the paint from their own supplies.
