An injection-molded plastic kit of the German V3000S/SSM Maultier half-tracked truck in 1:35 scale from ICM. The package contains plastic parts, clear parts, link-and-length tracks and a decal sheet. The model captures the characteristic semi-tracked conversion of a three-ton truck.
The Maultier, the mule, was a half-track conversion of German trucks meant to solve their inadequate going across country on the Eastern Front. The V3000S/SSM version came about on the basis of the three-ton V3000 truck with an eight-cylinder gasoline engine, by replacing the rear driven axle with a tracked running gear. Thanks to the tracks and the braking levers the truck could maneuver even in mud and snow in much the same way as tracked equipment.
Assemble the frame, the engine and the cab first and paint the interior, and only then close the body up; build the tracked running gear from the link-and-length parts and paint it before the final assembly. For painting use period German shades; apply mud and dust pigments to the tracks and the lower areas for faithful weathering and pick out the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
