1:35 WWI Russian Maxim MG Team

WWI Russian Maxim MG Team 1:35 (ICM)

A set of injection-molded plastic figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The set captures a Russian machine gun crew of the First World War together with the legendary Maxim model 1910 gun on its wheeled mount. The figures in period uniforms will make a convincing combat scene for a diorama from the front of the Great War.

The real subject

The Maxim model 1910 machine gun was the standard heavy automatic weapon of the Russian army. Water-cooled and set on the characteristic wheeled Sokolov mount, it represented the main firepower of the infantry, and its crew was a well-drilled pair of soldiers. The set faithfully captures both the weapon and its crew in action and recalls the trench fighting of the First World War on the Eastern Front.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts off carefully and clean up the joints thoroughly, paying particular attention to the small machine gun and its mount. Glue the figures together, treat them with primer and paint them in layers: faces and hands with a brush, uniforms with a base khaki tone and glazes. Bring out the metal parts of the weapon with a dark shade and a light dry brush, and finish the patina and dust with washes and pigments.
