An injection-molded plastic set of figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The name states the contents directly: a Vickers machine gun and two figures of its crew from the period of the Second World War. It is not a kit of a vehicle: it is an accessory for a diorama or a way of bringing a vehicle model to life.
The Vickers was a British heavy machine gun in .303 caliber with a water-cooled barrel, derived from the Maxim design. It was used on a tripod mount, and the crew completed it with a cooling container connected by a hose and with belted ammunition in metal boxes. Despite its weight it earned a reputation as a very reliable weapon capable of long continuous fire, and with British units it stayed in service throughout the Second World War. The figures match British infantry dress of this period.
First assemble the figures dry and check how they sit against the base or the model you have chosen, as the poses of the crew are tied to the position of the machine gun. Trim the parting seams on the arms and legs carefully with a scalpel and sand them with fine paper, as it is on figures that seams are the most visible. Glue the tripod and the cooling container of the machine gun on only after painting, as you will reach into the recesses better that way. The ground is a thin coat of primer. Build the uniforms up from a middle darkness, deepen the shadows with a wash and lighten the raised folds with a dry brush. Skin models well with thinned glazes. Complete the metal parts of the machine gun with a graphite sheen on the edges and light weathering.
