Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a Russian Akula class nuclear attack submarine in 1:350 scale from Bronco. The model represents the particular boat Gepard, designation K-335, the last unit of the whole series to be completed. In Russian service terms it is a project that is known in the West under the name Akula.
The Akula class is a Russian nuclear attack submarine, that is a boat meant for attacking surface ships and other submarines rather than for carrying ballistic missiles. It is recognizable by the conspicuous pod at the stern above the rudder, which houses the towed sonar array, and by a markedly smooth hull. It was these boats that showed that Soviet and Russian submarines could be considerably quieter than Western services had assumed. The Gepard was not completed until the beginning of this millennium and is among the most refined units of the series.
The hull of a submarine is smooth and has no superstructures, so every seam is conspicuous: once it is glued, fill and sand it back and spray the surface with filler primer, then check it under a side light. Do not paint the black hull in pure black, a very dark gray suits it better and the shape remains visible at all. Fit the pod of the towed array at the stern carefully, it is a small and conspicuous part. If you put the model on a stand, the long hull needs two supports.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
