Injection-molded plastic kit of the American battleship USS Arizona from Hobby Boss in 1:350 scale, capturing the ship as she looked in December 1941. The hull is split so that it can be built either as a full hull or as a waterline model. The box contains detailed superstructure and decks, boats, two OS2U Kingfisher floatplanes, a stand and decals plus color plans for the December 1941 appearance. A large model of an important subject.
USS Arizona was a battleship of the Pennsylvania class. She is remembered above all for her dramatic end during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, when a hit and the explosion of her forward magazines killed more than a thousand of her crew. The wreck of the ship remains where she sank and a memorial stands over her today. The kit matches her appearance shortly before the attack, with her tall masts and period armament.
Choose between full hull and waterline. The tall masts and the tower call for patience when gluing and for parts that line up; sand the joints carefully and glue with thin cement for plastic. The model is greatly refined by add-on photo-etched railings, ladders and masts, which are not in the box. Paint it with an airbrush in the period American naval gray; gentle panel highlighting, stippling and restrained weathering will give the large deck depth. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
