This injection-molded plastic kit captures the tropical conversion of the German Bf 109F-4Z fighter in 1:48 scale from ICM. The model comes as a set of gray plastic parts with finely engraved panel lines and a detailed DB 601 engine. The letter Z in the designation refers to the GM 1 boost system for extra power at high altitude, and the Trop suffix to the dust filter on the intake for desert operations.
The Bf 109F is one of the aerodynamically cleanest versions of the whole 109 family. The Luftwaffe deployed tropical F-4Z/Trop machines from 1941 in North Africa, where fighter wings such as JG 27 flew them. The combination of the Daimler-Benz inverted V12 engine, the dust filter and high-altitude boost made these aircraft feared opponents over the desert.
Use liquid cement for plastic and clean the flash off the parts. Apply primer before spraying and lay the paints down with an airbrush. Desert camouflage in sand and light blue shades comes into its own after a gentle panel line accent and a light dust patina. The dust filter and the exposed engine are ideal places to bring out the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
