The ICM 1:48 Dornier Do 217 M-1 injection-molded plastic kit represents one of the advanced versions of the German Second World War bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from ICM represents the German Dornier Do 217 bomber in the M-1 version, one of the more advanced variants of the type from the Second World War. The model offers a glazed forward cockpit, engine nacelles and a varied surface with finely engraved lines. It is a modern rendering in a large scale, which leaves room for rich detail.
The Dornier Do 217 was a twin-engined bomber that followed on from the earlier Do 17, but was markedly larger and heavier, with a greater load and range. The M-1 version was powered by liquid-cooled in-line engines, which set it apart from the variants with radial engines. The aircraft was used for level and dive bombing and for night missions; it was among the more capable German bombers of its day.
Use thin modeling cement on the plastic. The extensive canopy glazing is worth masking so that it stays clear; masks will speed the work up. Assemble and paint the interior and the engine nacelles before closing the airframe. German period camouflage schemes come out best when sprayed with an airbrush, with a light panel emphasis and restrained weathering. A large model deserves careful fitting of the parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
