Injection-molded plastic model of the German Heinkel He 111 medium bomber in its H-3 version in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The kit captures the typical fully glazed nose (the glasshouse) with its richly divided glazing and the pair of engine nacelles. It is built from gray plastic and clear parts for the extensive glazing of the cockpit and the nose. The exact contents of the box follow the given release.
The Heinkel He 111 was one of the main German medium bombers of World War II. The hallmark of the later versions was the continuously glazed, asymmetric nose with the positions for the bombardier and the front gunner. The H-3 version was among the early production machines of the H series: a twin-engine all-metal aircraft with a crew, defensive armament and a bomb load, deployed among other places in the fighting over Western Europe. The aircraft is easy to recognize by exactly that glazed nose and the smooth, rounded shapes of the airframe.
Assemble and paint the interior of the pilot's compartment and the positions in the glazed nose before closing the fuselage, because the inside is visible through the extensive glazing. The intricate glazing is worth masking (with tape or pre-cut masks) so that the frames stay sharp. We recommend dry-fitting the engine nacelles and the landing gear. Use a thin cement on the plastic, treat the surfaces with a primer before painting and mask the typical German splinter camouflage; the engraved lines can be accentuated with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
