An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 Type 28 fighter in 1:48 scale from ICM. The kit is marked by a well-worked engine, landing gear and cockpit interior and holds a decal sheet with several marking variants. The model is supplied unglued and unpainted.
The I-16 was one of the first production monoplanes with retractable landing gear. The Type 28 version had the M-63 radial engine, armament supplemented with ShVAK cannon and a strengthened structure; it was built at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s and was committed in the opening fighting on the Eastern Front.
The short, stocky fuselage and the radial engine will reward careful building of the interior and the engine before closing up. We suggest liquid cement for plastic, a filler primer and spraying with an airbrush. The fabric covering of the rear fuselage can be brought out with gentle weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
