The ICM Ju 88C-6 1:48 is an injection-molded plastic kit of a heavy fighter: the C version has a solid, unglazed nose with cannon and machine gun armament, not a glazed bomber nose. It is therefore not a bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM, from a mold introduced in 2018. The key information: the C version is not a bomber but a heavy fighter. While the basic Ju 88 had a glazed bomber nose, the C version received a solid, unglazed (blind) nose with fixed gun armament: a cannon and machine guns firing forward. That is the most striking visual and functional difference from the bomber versions. The kit has roughly 250 parts on eight sprues of gray plastic and two sprues of clear parts, contains four marking schemes and offers one-piece fuselage halves, so there is no joint at the nose to deal with. Photo-etched parts are not included in the package.
The Junkers Ju 88 was a versatile twin-engine aircraft of the Luftwaffe, built in bomber, reconnaissance, fighter and night fighter forms. The Ju 88C-6 is the fighter branch of this family: it came from a conversion of the bomber version, the glazed nose was replaced by an armored solid nose with armament, and further weapons were carried in a ventral gondola. An aircraft armed in this way served as a heavy fighter and hunter: it was deployed over the Mediterranean, from French bases against Allied aircraft over the Atlantic and on the Eastern Front. With its range, endurance and heavy firepower it was dangerous to bombers and to slower transport and maritime patrol aircraft, but against agile single-engine fighters it was at an obvious disadvantage.
The ICM kit is detailed, but it calls for more careful work than kits of Japanese production, so count on a dry-fit check before gluing and on filling the seams. Glue with a thin plastic cement. The roomy cockpit interior is worth finishing and painting before you close it up. The openings for the weapons in the front section are only suggested, so anyone who wants the gun barrels to be accurate will reach for resin or metal accessories. German camouflage is sprayed with an airbrush, and the lowest possible pressure suits the soft edges of the blotches; apply a gloss coat under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
