About product

Junkers Ju 88D-1 1:48 (ICM)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German twin-engine Junkers Ju 88D-1 reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale from ICM. The model is based on the proven mold of the Ju 88 range and captures the specialized photo-reconnaissance version. The package holds plastic sprues, a clear sprue and a decal sheet; go by the enclosed instructions for the exact contents.

The real subject

The Ju 88 was a versatile German combat aircraft used as a bomber, a night fighter and a reconnaissance machine. The Ju 88D-1 version was a long-range photo-reconnaissance aircraft derived from the bomber version and equipped with aerial cameras for photography from height as well as from lower levels. It was one of the most widespread reconnaissance versions of the Ju 88.

Building and painting tips

The glazed cockpit of the Ju 88 is extensive, so masking and careful gluing of the clear parts pay off. Paint the interior and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage up. An airbrush is ideal for painting the period German camouflage; lay the decals on a gloss base and then seal them.

Who the model is for

  • fans of German aircraft of the Second World War
  • modelers working in 1:48 scale
  • anyone interested in reconnaissance and photographic aircraft
  • builders with basic to intermediate experience

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
