Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Junkers Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber in 1:48 scale from the British brand Airfix. From one package it is possible to build the standard B-2 version as well as the long-range R-2. The package holds plastic sprues, clear parts and a decal sheet. The model is meant to be glued and painted.
You will recognize the Ju 87 at first glance by its inverted gull wing and by the fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings. The B-2 version had a Jumo 211 engine, dive brakes under the wing and an automatic pull-out from the dive. The long-range R-2 version was derived from the B-2, but it received plumbing under the wing for drop tanks and with it a substantially greater range. It was deployed mainly over the Mediterranean, the Balkans and the north of Europe, where the distances between the bases and the targets were long.
The cockpit of the Stuka is long and clearly visible, so spray it and paint in the detail before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing with kabuki film, which holds more reliably than a liquid mask. Seat the inverted gull wing carefully so that both halves have the same dihedral; fix the joint and let it dry undisturbed. Apply the broken camouflage on the upper surfaces with an airbrush and a soft transition, and do not form the border with a mask. Lay the decals onto a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
