An injection-molded plastic kit of the fighter North American Mustang Mk.III in 1:48 scale from ICM, in the configuration of a Royal Air Force machine. Mk.III is the British designation for the razorback Merlin-engined Mustangs delivered under Lend-Lease. The kit offers finely engraved detail, a well-worked cockpit, an optional bulged Malcolm hood and underwing stores.
Mustang Mk.III was the British designation for the P-51B and P-51C versions delivered to Great Britain. British squadrons, among them Polish units serving within the RAF, typically fitted these machines with the bulged one-piece Malcolm hood, which markedly improved the view from the cockpit. Mk.III Mustangs proved themselves as escort fighters and in chasing down German V-1 missiles.
Use thin cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage. British schemes typically combine camouflage with prominent recognition stripes for Allied aircraft. Apply primer and lay the colors on with an airbrush, and treat the glazing with masks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
