An aftermarket detail accessory from the Hungarian firm SBS Model. The set replaces the standard pilot cockpit on models of the Japanese N1K2-J Shiden-kai fighter (Allied designation George) in 1:48 scale. It combines finely cast resin parts with photo-etched sheet and a printed film for the instrument panel, which gives a richly detailed interior visible under the glazing.
The N1K2-J Shiden-kai was a Japanese fighter of the late stage of the Second World War, developed from a floatplane fighter. It ranked among the best Japanese fighters at the end of the war, and its well differentiated cockpit fit is a rewarding target for detailing.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and dry-fit them; bend the photo-etched parts over an edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Assemble the instrument panel with its film layer by layer. Varnish the interior and bring it out before the fuselage is closed up. Sand with respiratory protection.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin and photo-etched parts. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.
