The package brings together a model of the light Polikarpov U-2/Po-2 biplane in the VS version and an accessory set of Soviet airmen and ground personnel. Figures for bringing the scene around the aircraft to life and several marking options are part of it. The model is supplied as a set of plastic parts to be assembled and painted.
The Polikarpov U-2, renamed Po-2 after the death of its designer, was a simple and exceptionally reliable biplane originally intended for training and liaison duty. The Po-2VS version was adapted for night bombing work, with the ability to carry light bombs under the wings. The aircraft became famous with the night bomber regiments; the best known was the women's 588th Regiment, whose crews earned the nickname Night Witches from their opponents.
With a biplane, lay out the order of painting the wings and the fuselage beforehand, because access tends to be worse once it is assembled. Glue the struts and the bracing precisely, so that the aircraft stays true. The figures come into their own with layered painting and light washes; together with the aircraft they let an impressive vignette with the ground crew be built. Laying the base colors on with an airbrush and picking the detail out finely suits the kit.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
