1:48 United Kingdom Roundel is a square plaque to stand a model on, printed with the British circular aircraft roundel.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plaque from Kelik's range of colored display boards, printed with the British national aircraft roundel. The marking appeared in the first years of military aviation by reversing the color order of the French cockade, so that the two could be told apart in the field, and in various forms it has stayed on British aircraft to this day. According to the name the board has a 240 mm side, is 3 mm thick and weighs 190 grams.
British aircraft tend to wear dark camouflage in which detail is lost. A colored roundel beneath them creates a lighter background, the outline of the model stands out against it and a photograph gains depth. In a case holding aircraft of several countries the plaque then works as a clear sorter. It also serves well on a club table, where models come and go and nobody has time to build a new setting each time.
Place the model in the middle of the motif and leave a free margin all the way around. Store the plaque flat and do not put hot objects on it. A soft cloth will do for wiping and water is enough for stains, but aggressive cleaners will harm the print. You can put a drop of adhesive putty under the wheels so the model does not slide when the case is moved. Hold the plaque by its edges when carrying it, because fingerprints show clearly on the smooth surface.
