Four castings of the American dispenser with self-guiding submunitions, as carried under the CBU-97 designation and its newer form CBU-105. The parts aim at large models and carry the relief of the casing including the joining bands and the rear section with the tail unit.
The CBU-97 differs from older dispenser weapons in what falls out of it. Instead of a plain swarm of grenades it releases ten cylindrical submunitions; each descends on a small parachute, spins up and fires off a set of disc-shaped projectiles. These read the heat signature of a vehicle and hit it from above, that is where the armor tends to be thinnest. The CBU-105 designation belongs to the same weapon completed with a guided tail unit that corrects the path for wind; the spread is then smaller and the release can be made from greater altitude.
Go over the surface with a fine abrasive after cutting the casting block off and then give the whole part a flat coat, because glossy resin shows every unevenness only under paint. A light base shade with thin bands calls for a carefully prepared surface. The lettering stands out when the surface is gone over with a semi-flat varnish after the decals are applied.
