An injection-molded plastic kit of the French battleship Richelieu as she was in 1943, in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The model can be built with a full hull or as a waterline version and contains a display stand. The 1943 configuration captures the ship after the rearming and modifications of that period.
The Richelieu was a French battleship of the class of the same name, with a characteristic main battery of 380 mm concentrated in two quadruple turrets in the forward part of the hull. The ship represented the peak of French battleship design and in 1943 she served after modifications to her equipment and anti-aircraft armament. Her silhouette is marked by a compact superstructure and a characteristic funnel.
Build the hull as a whole or as a waterline version; clean the joints up carefully. Bond the plastic with liquid cement and apply the colors with an airbrush over a base coat. A faithful rendering of the period finish and picking out the deck details are worthwhile. The railings and the fine fittings can be added with photo-etched sets, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
