HMS Renown 1942 is a plastic kit of the British battlecruiser in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the British battlecruiser as she was in 1942, after her extensive interwar modernization. The hull can be built at full height on a stand or as a waterline model. The package contains finely engraved decks, broken-up superstructure, gun turrets of 381 mm caliber, boat fittings, a display stand and a decal sheet.
HMS Renown was the lead ship of the battlecruiser class that carried her name. After her rebuilding in the 1930s she gained modern superstructure and strengthened anti-aircraft armament. During the Second World War she took part in operations in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean and escorted convoys to Malta. Her main battery was six guns of 381 mm caliber.
A thin cement for plastic, primer and an airbrush are the right tools; Admiralty camouflage schemes are typical for 1942. Paint the hull and the decks before fitting the armament. The broken-up superstructure will appreciate the addition of railings and rigging from photo-etched metal, which is not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
