The classic biplane 1:72 Avro 504K (Vintage Classics) from Airfix is a kit of the British trainer from the time of the First World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
Airfix is bringing a classic biplane from the early days of aviation back into its range. The Vintage Classics range reissues older toolings from the brand's history, so the build has a touch of modeling as it looked decades ago, and the overall concept of the model matches that.
The Avro 504 type first flew as early as 1913 and at first served for reconnaissance as well as for bombing raids. It came fully into its own as a trainer, though: the K version received a universal engine mount into which various rotary engines could be fitted, and it became the standard type for training British pilots. After the war, hundreds of examples flew with private owners, with joyriding companies and with flying circuses into the 1930s, so the machine became a whole generation's first experience of flying.
Join the wings on a flat surface and watch the dihedral and the alignment while the glue sets. The bracing wires can be added with a fine thread, which adds a great deal to the impression of a finished model. You can imitate the doped fabric covering with a light cream shade and the ribs showing through slightly; the large roundels call for a smooth base.
The shipment arrives as a set of unassembled, unpainted parts; glue, paints and accessories are not included.
